Security Forces Caught A Bandit In Imo And Asked Him To Take Them To Where They Operate – Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma
The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has opened up on why security forces raided communities in Orsu Local Government Area of the state some days ago and set ablaze some shops in a popular market in the area.
On Saturday, news had emerged that the Nigerian troops have invaded Orsu-Ihiteukwua, Awo-Idemili and Eziawa communities in Orsu LGA and destroyed several shops.
While speaking about the issue to newsmen in Owerri, the capital of the state, Governor Uzodinma disclosed that the joint security forces arrested one of the bandits who have been terrorizing the area, and they asked him to take them to where they have been operating from, and he took them to the Ekeututu market in Orsu market.
He said that when they got there, the security forces discovered that some of the shops were used to store materials used in manufacturing explosives.
In the report which was made by Vanguard, the governor said – “The joint security forces who arrested one of the bandits took the bandit after his confession as to where they operate from, and to visit where the local explosives are manufactured. It turned out to be Ekeututu market.
They saw four shops where fertilizers and other electrical gadgets used to manufacture explosives were packed.”
Governor Uzodinma said that the captain who led that operation is now battling for his life at the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, with another officer, a captain of the Nigerian Army.
Speaking further, Governor Uzodinma said that after recovering these items used in manufacturing explosives, the security operatives burnt down the shops where those items were found, and that they were careful enough to ensure that no life was lost.
