There is Palpable Tension in the mind of the PDP political elites as YIAGA report may withhold the swearing-In- ceremony of the Governor Elect, Ademola Adeleke

The YIAGA Africa claim that there was excessive voting in the just concluded governorship contest in Osun state has caused tension among the political elite, Ejes Gist Newspaper reports.

Mahmoud Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was present in Abuja for a presentation and analysis of the governorship election. They disclosed that the election had been rigged in 12 of the state’s local governments.

APC’s Response to YIAGA Africa’s Claim
In response to the accusation, the governor’s chief press secretary, Ismail Omipidan, asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had only lost the vote count and not the election.

According to a review of PVC data collected in Osun, there were more registered voters in each of the 30 voting locations than there were total PVCs obtained.

According to Omipidan, these discrepancies were discovered in 12 councils.

He stated that the organisation produced the election results analysis dashboard (ERAD), which served as an independent audit and integrity test assessment tool for INEC’s results management.

He cited YIAGA Africa as the source of this information. 87 results could not be processed on the ERAD due to a variety of issues.

The results recorded in the ERAD database did not match the total number of ballots rejected as reported by INEC during the final collation.

He went on to say that the presiding officers had published blurry images and poorly composed shots of the result sheets as shorter images on the IReV portal.

What is the PDP’s response to the YIAGA Africa report on the Osun election?
Ademola Adeleke’s campaign for governor’s director general, Kolapo Alimi, responded to the report by claiming: “YIAGA had applauded the election, indicating that it was free and fair.

More than 60 domestic and international observers backed it. The fact that the same organisation is criticizing the procedure again two months later raises suspicions.
