30 Terrorists Who Attacked Soldiers In Abuja Have Been Exterminated -Defence Headquarters in Abuja announced
The Defence Headquarters in Abuja announced on Thursday that 30 terrorists who attacked Guards Brigade troops in the Bwari region of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday have been exterminated.
According to Daily Post, military troops were attacked upon their return from the Nigerian Law School, where they had been to raise security concerns with the school’s administration.
Two senior officials were ambushed and killed in the process.
During a bi-weekly news conference on military operations on Thursday in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Bernard Onyeuko, stated that the operation was conducted by 7 Guards Battalion and 167 Special Forces Battalion in conjunction with the air component of “Operation Whirl Punch” between Sunday and Tuesday.
According to him, the army successfully cleansed the villages of Kawu and Ido, neutralising the terrorists and eliminating their refuges and enclaves.
During mop-up, according to him, the ground soldiers also recovered six motorcycles, two AK47 rifles, and one fully loaded LMG magazine, among other items.
He stated that the hierarchy of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies re-assured Nigerians of their commitment and pact with all Nigerians, adding that with the recent operations conducted since July 23, 2022, “we wish to assure residents of FCT in particular that we are undaunted and unrelenting in our efforts to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
In addition to requesting the assistance and collaboration of all Nigerians, he asked the populace to go about their daily activities as their safety is assured.
Additionally, he urged locals to report suspicious individuals in their areas to security services. If you observe something, report it.
The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Jimmy Akpor, asked the media to continue supporting the military in its efforts to overcome the nation’s enemies.
