Porto 0- 2 Chelsea: The Blues earn potentially decisive 2-0 win against Porto on Wednesday evening

Chelsea claimed a significant 2-0 win in what was the away leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Porto on Wednesday evening in a game that was, like the second leg will be, played at Sevilla’s Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

English pair Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell got the Blues’ goals on the night, though the game wasn’t as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

Thomas Tuchel’s side kept their eighth clean sheet in nine games in Seville, putting their shock 5-2 defeat to West Brom last weekend firmly behind them as they nicely positioned themselves to advance to the semi-finals.

Chelsea took the lead with just over half an hour played and their opener came courtesy of a fine Mount goal. Jorginho fed the England international, who expertly turned before firing across Agustin Marchesin into the far corner.

Aside from a couple of half-chances, the Premier League side managed to make it to half time relatively unthreatened. Things only got better after the break, despite Porto dominating the ball.

Christian Pulisic came close to a second when he thumped the woodwork when through on goal, but Chilwell did then double Chelsea’s lead a minute later. The full-back cut in from the left and rounded Marchesin before tapping into an open goal.

The return leg will also be played at the Sanchez-Pizjuan, with Chelsea playing hosts on Tuesday, April 13
