Update From Umuahia: Victory For Emperor As Court Orders DSS To Release And Pay N1.5m For Damages

In the case between Emperor Gabriel Ogbonna and DG DSS and 3 orders.

Bail granted to the application.

The DSS has been ordered to release Barrister Ogbonna with immediate effect.

DSS and its sister government agents restrained from further arresting, detaining and harassing the applicant and a cost of 1.5 million awarded against DSS.

The court reprimanded the DSS for importing ipob into the whole issue to make it look like a terrorist Case.

Using uncouth language and insult against the president or DSS is unprofessional but does not by any means constitute an inciting activities against the state.

Truly tyranny has no place in Abia State.

We hope the DSS will abide by this order and let emperor go.

A human rights activist, Emperor Gabriel Ogbonna, was arrested and remanded in prison custody over an alleged false publication against Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Over 20 policemen in company with Chief of Staff to the governor, Tony Agbazuere, and Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, were said to have stormed Ogbonna’s chambers and arrested him at about 8:30am on March 24 despite the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, against making frivolous arrests.
