AC Milan 1-1 Juventus: Ronaldo 91′ pen saves Bianconeri as Ibrahimovic and Theo Hernandez to miss 2nd-leg decider

Ante Rebic opened the scoring for Milan but the 10-man hosts were denied a first-leg victory by Cristiano Ronaldo at San Siro.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a last-gasp penalty to earn Juventus a scarcely deserved 1-1 draw against 10-man Milan in Thursday’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg at San Siro.

It was the prolific Portugal forward’s athletic effort that struck the arm of Davide Calabria to earn the spot-kick, awarded after a VAR check, and he duly rifled home in added time.

Prior to the late drama, Milan had made the breakthrough just after the hour. Having been thwarted on several occasions by veteran Gianluigi Buffon, Ante Rebic finally scored before Theo Hernandez was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Kessie’s long shot wide out

Milan keep up the pressure and Kessie gets off a wicked effort from long range which has Buffon diving to his left but it sails just wide. The Juve goalkeeper may have had it covered anyway but it was certainly a decent strike.

Rebic’s long shot stopped by Buffon

Milan are really snapping at Juve’s heels in these opening stages, with Kessie getting about in midfield, giving Calhanoglu the freedom to link the play. It appears the hosts are lined up in a 4-2-3-1, with Rebic in a wide left role.

Ibrahimovic’s back-heel flick wide out

Lovely move by Theo Hernandez who glides into the box and serves Ibrahimovic, but Zlatan doesn’t connect with his back-heel attempt

What a save from Buffon!

Buffon rolls back the years there with a superb, one-handed stop to tip Calabria’s effort over. Milan had managed to string together a decent move, with the full-back finding himself in space 18 yards out.

Ball recovered in Juve third leads to a chance for Rebić but Buffon saves it at a stretch

Yellow Card! Ibrahimovic booked

The first booking is out now and it goes to Ibrahimovic, who was adjudged to have fouled De Ligt. It means the striker will miss the second leg.

Cuadrado’s shot stopped by Donnarumma

Excellent goalkeeping from Donnarumma as the youngster gets down sharply to keep out a stinging, low drive from Cuadrado which was destined for the bottom-left corner.

Rebic’s shot stopped by Buffon again

Rebic gets around De Sciglio and hooks a left-footed strike at goal on the half-volley, but Buffon stands his ground to make the save.

Castillejo’s long shot confiscated by Buffon

Castillejo proceeds to strike at goal, but Buffon makes a comfortable stop.

GOAL! Milan 1-0 Juventus (Rebic)

Buffon is beaten this time! Rebic has got the goal, continuing his fine form with a brilliant finish on the volley from Castillejo’s cross. Buffon got down, but just couldn’t reach it. Milan lead 1-0!

Second Yellow Card! Theo sent off

Hernandez has been sent off! What a huge blow that is for Milan. The full-back received a caution for dissent earlier on and now has picked up his second booking after going in late on Dybala. How costly could that be for the hosts?

Dybala’s shot wide out

Dybala is the benefactor of some fine work from Cuadrado and looks to catch Donnarumma out with a low shot to the near post. However, the forward drags it wide and Milan escape with their slender lead intact.

Penalty Goal! Milan 1-1 Juventus (Ronaldo)

RONALDO MAKES NO MISTAKE! The 35-year-old waits for Donnarumma to dive to his left and sends the spot-kick down the middle. It’s now 35 goals for club and country for Ronaldo, who has scored in 11 successive Juve matches.
