Napoli have allegedly rejected an offer of €8m from Chelsea for Dries Mertens.

Tuttomercatoweb has claimed that the Blues have contacted the Partenopei about their Belgian forward and have reportedly handed in an offer that President Aurelio De Laurentiis has rejected.

Chelsea are insisting on the 31-year-old and have tried to insert a few technical clauses and bonuses in the reported offer, according to TMW, but have also seen their second approach denied by the Neapolitans.

Mertens’ future at the San Paolo could also be important for Lazio, who are trying to bring Olivier Giroud to Serie A from Stamford Bridge this week and Frank Lampard will reportedly not be willing to let the World Cup winner leave without having secured a replacement.
