Bournemouth 1-1 Arsenal: Gunners drop points on Arteta debut despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s equaliser earned Arsenal a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth in Mikel Arteta’s first game as the Gunners’ head coach.

Having opted to recall Mesut Ozil to his starting line-up in one of three changes, Arteta saw his side fall behind to Dan Gosling’s goal 10 minutes before half-time.

However, Aubameyang tucked in a second-half leveller to ensure Arteta gained a point in his debut as a head coach.

After some bright play on the edge of the Arsenal area by Lewis Cook and Callum Wilson, the ball gets slid into the path of Fraser. From the right side of the box, the Scotsman sees his driven effort well saved by Leno who was quickly off his line to close the angle.

CHANCE! Lacazette’s shot saved

Ozil combines with Lacazette before sending Nelson away down the right flank. The wingers gets the better of Simpson before pulling a low cross back into the area for Lacazette to attack, but his on-the-turn effort is blocked by Lerma.

After some bright play down the right flank, Stacey breaks away beyond Saka before pulling the ball back across goal. Gosling gets the better of the Arsenal defenders and drills a close-range shot beyond Leno and into the bottom left corner.

Following a period of sustained possession on the edge of the Bournemouth penalty area, the ball breaks for Nelson down the right side of the box. The winger’s effort deflects into the path of Aubameyang who quickly adjusts to steer the ball into the bottom left corner.
