Inter Milan Are preparing A £6m bid for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud could be on his way to Inter Milan in January as the French striker searches for consistent first team football.

The 33-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since Frank Lampard took over as manager this summer, with the Chelsea boss opting to give younger players a chance to flourish.

Tammy Abraham’s prolific form means that Giroud’s options at the Blues are limited, and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could be the man to come to his rescue.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Conte is searching for extra attacking options for a frontline containing former Blues striker Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martínez.

And he has identified Giroud as an effective option for the Italian giants. Conte has become a frustrated figure this season over his side’s inability to hold onto leads, having let a two-goal advantage at Dortmund slip in the Champions League.

Giroud is earmarked as a man to come off the bench and cause defenders problems in the closing stages of games, and the Italian reports suggest that Chelsea would be willing to let the Frenchman go for just £6million in the next window.

A move away may be considered a good option for all parties involved. Giroud wants a consistent run of first team football as he targets a place in the France squad for next summer’s Euro 2020 tournament.
