Arsenal 1-1 Wolves: Aubameyang named captain on his 50th goal as a Gunner not enough to secure victory

Ozil starts for Arsenal as Aubameyang named captain

The 31-year-old has been heavily out of favour at the Emirates but impressed for the Gunners in the 5-5 Carabao Cup draw at Liverpool

Mesut Ozil will make just his second Premier League appearance of the season on Saturday, with the former Germany international named in Unai Emery’s starting XI for the home fixture with Wolves.

The 31-year-old has only made the matchday squad for the Gunners three times in the league this season, his only appearance coming in mid-September in the 2-2 draw at Watford.

Aubameyang (21′)

Jimenez (76′)

CLOSE! Aubameyang’s shot saved

Aubameyang with a decent strike from a tight angle on the volley, but Patricio reads it well and makes a comfortable save.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Wolves (Aubameyang)

Arsenal lead 1-0! Aubameyang with the opening goal of the game, despite Arsenal being under pressure for much of the opening half so far. David Luiz finds Lacazette, who is allowed time to turn and square the ball to his team-mate.

Aubameyang then slides the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the net, out of the reach of Patricio.

SAVE! Fine stop from Leno

Huge opportunity for Doherty to level the scoreline, but Leno makes a superb save to deny him! Jota drags the ball back to the edge of the penalty area for Doherty, who drills it towards goal, but Leno manages to get a strong hand to it and pushes it away to safety.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Wolves (Jimenez)

Jimenez has hardly been involved today, but he has come up with the equaliser. Moutinho chipped a cross into the box and Jimenez got above his marker and powered the ball into the back of the net, past Leno who was wrongfooted.
