Giving an insight on how the suspected cult leader, Scorpion was arrested, Muazu, said, Scorpion had been declared wanted by the police for over a long period of time, for murder, robbery and cult-related vices.
Muazu said the cult leader, Scorpion is the number one in the hierarchy of Awawa boys, and their strongholds are located in Agege,Dopemu, Iju, Pen Cinema, Oko Oba and its axis.
“He is the most dreaded in the hierarchy of cult leaders and his gang is responsible for series of violent crimes and social disorders in the areas earlier mentioned. Two other members of his gang, namely Balogun Jide and Dolapo were arrested. The suspects will be charged to Court.” The CP said.
However, Akintayo denied being a member of Awawa cult group. He told journalists that he does not belong to any secret society.
He said: “I am not a cultist, I am only a street boy who help to mediate among groups whenever there is any clash between them.
“I didn’t tell the police that I belongs to any cult group, I am a trained printer,” he said.
When confronted with the fact that he was being arrested for cultism the second time, Scorpion said, it is true that he was arrested but denied being a cultist.
“I believed that I am an Awawa boy because it means someone who is alive, I don’t have any position in the cult group.
Speaking on how he was arrested, he said the police arrested him, claiming there was a fight but he wasn’t part of the gang who were fighting.
The police however refuted what the suspected cultists said, saying he was arrested for the second time and he made a confessional statement.
CP Muazu further added that investigation is ongoing and Scorpion and his group members will charged to court at its conclusion.
