Abia state Police Command on Monday justified why Policemen stormed Afara Community, the home town of Supreme leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu

Police in a statement issued on behalf of Commissioner of Police in Abia state by Geoffrey Ogbona claimed that policemen invaded the Afara Community following the intelligent gathered that the proscribed IPOB members are planning to lead a protest on alleged killing of their members during Operation Phython Dance.

Police debunked allegation of planning to arrest Nnamdi Kanu’s father claiming that there was no invasion on Nnamdi Kanu’s residence in Afara Community of Abia state.

Police added that the presence of men in the community was just a proactive measure to prevent miscreants who would disguise in the process to cause mayhem in and outside the community.
The Police submitted that there is no amount of blackmail or media propaganda that would veer Police in Abia state its statutory duties of ensuring maintenance of law and order.
IPOB had at the weekend raised alarm about the presence of policemen and other security personnel around the home of their leader.
This is even as they (IPOB) claimed that the target of the security agencies was to arrest Kanu’s father who reportedly arrived his compound almost two years after his compound was invaded by soldiers.
