Three suspected drug traffickers have been arrested at the baggage section of Seme border for allegedly attempting to smuggle in five parcels of weeds suspected to be cannabis.

The suspects, whose identities are still undisclosed, were said to be coming into the country from Ghana with the illicit substance.

The Public Relations Officer of Seme Customs Area Command, Saidu Abdullahi, explained that the suspects also used a Toyota Hiace bus to convey other contrabands worth N2,907,450.

Abdullahi said the vehicle used belonged to G-Express Company with registration number ENU 962 ZK, believed to be coming from Ghana.
“Upon careful examination at the baggage’s inward hall, it was discovered to contain five parcels of items suspected to be cannabis sativa concealed in the bus. Consequently, the bus driver, bus boy and the cargo handler were all promptly arrested and detained.
“The command in the spirit of inter-agency cooperation and synergy handed over the said items and the suspects to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further prosecution” he said.
