Abraham was Subjected to 2 hours drugs test & ‘missed flight home from Norwich

Tammy Abraham missed Chelsea’s return flight to London from Norwich on Saturday after taking two hours to complete a drugs test,

The Blues striker, who scored his first goals for the club to help seal a 3-2 victory at Carrow Road, had been due to fly with his team-mates after the lunchtime kick-off.

But after grabbing a brace against the Canaries – including the game’s winning goal – Abraham was forced to complete a mandatory drugs test.

Perhaps dehydrated after playing in temperatures approaching 30 degrees, the young striker was unable to provide a urine sample until around 4.30pm.

It meant he missed the squad’s flight and instead travelled back to London in a car with club officials.

The incident is unlikely to have affected Abraham, who was delighted after breaking his duck to help Chelsea record their first win of the season.

Speaking about his first celebration with manager Frank Lampard, the former Aston Villa loanee said: ‘When I got my first club goal I was over the moon and didn’t know how to celebrate.

‘I just ran over to the manager to thank him.’

Lampard added: ‘Youngsters don’t just get games because I am promoting youth. They have to do it on credit.’
