Aisha Buhari rocks N772,200 Oscar De LaRenta cape dress to Democracy Day gala night
On Tuesday night, June 11th, President Muhammadu Buhari hosted some world leaders as well as top Nigerian government functionaries to a gala night to commemorate the celebration of June 12th Democracy day.
The event was graced by dignitaries including State Governors, members and leadership of the newly inaugurated National Assembly, Diplomats, captains of industries who were treated to best of Nigerian cuisines and hospitality.

The event was attended by President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz; President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame; President of Liberia, George Weah; President of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso and President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo; President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa; President of Senegal,Macky Sall; Prime Minister of Uganda, Ruhakana Rugunda; President of the Gambia Adama Barrow and President of Niger Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou.
The dinner was also attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari and wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, the newly elected leaders of the National Assembly and and House of Representatives; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege and deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase.
However, one person who stole the show was the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, who stepped out for the event in a Maple Leaf Embroidered Silk-Crepe Cape-Back Caftan by A-list designer, Oscar De LaRenta. The dress which was initially sold for $4,290 (1,544,400) is currently retailing for $2,145 which in Naira equivalent is N772,200.
Anyway, there wouldn’t be anything wrong with the President’s wife wearing a designer’s dress of such value. After all, even celebrities in the country have stepped out with dresses far more expensive.
