TENSION!massive Protest,Students Hide,others beaten/arrested as police raid campus.
As indicated by numerous reports, police men are said to be now beating and attacking undergraduates of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba township in Ondo State, after the organization was closed down because students were protesting the recent law by the management of the school to implement ‘no tuition fee, no test/no examination’ arrangement.
Reports say that the policemen arrived on campus because members of the University board called them there. It was driven by Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun.
Some students who were seen moving around the area, were forced to lay on the ground and captured by the police as can be found in the photos below…
Some students were also allegedly harmed by the police as they captured them, as others tried to escape by hiding in the roof.
The massive protest started on Wednesday as the understudies opposed the school’management’s decision to uphold the new law from last Tuesday when 100 level and 200 level understudies started their test.
The university stated in March 2019 that students who were yet to pay their tuition would pay additional N10,000 for late registration, and whoever does not register would not be allowed to write first semester 2018/2019 test and examination.
Sequel to the protest, the management of the institution had directed all students to proceed on mid-semester break.
The university in a statement signed by its Registrar, Dr. Sunday Ayeerun, directed all students to vacate the school immediately.
The statement said the students are to return to campus on May 20, 2019.
